I’m a knife maker specialising in culinary knives using traditional bladesmith skills with the eye of a precision furniture maker, creating heirloom pieces for daily use.
I grew up around tools from a very young age thanks to my dads and have nurtured a love of materials ever since, tinkering with wood, metal, earth, resin in many guises.
Renowned knife maker & charcuterie producer Fingal Ferguson first introduced me to the art of the cutler, since then I’ve worked closely with several highly respected international makers to develop my skills and my work is well known across the knife making and cheffing/restaurant community as well as the home cook/ foodies.
My knives are all about the materials & the story that they hold
I love being able to give life to found & recycled materials & incorporate them into my work using forge-welding techniques to blend & twist steels together to create Damascus & San Mai blades; the finest high carbon steels sandwiched between found gems; a 100 year old wrought iron cart wheel rim, old whiskey barrel straps or sea-buried ships anchor chains.
Handled with cuttings from a storm damaged 80 year old apple tree, Irish grown exotics like magnolia from estate house gardens or a 300 year old wind-felled oak from Ballymaloe House – all combined to create a functional yet beautiful every day tool that can be passed on to another generation.
